Safari Planning Guide

Wild World Serengeti Safari Guide Updated June 21, 2026 Local Tanzania Advice
A great Tanzania safari is not only about choosing famous parks. It is about matching your travel dates, wildlife priorities, comfort level, budget, and pace so every day feels well planned instead of rushed.

Start With Your Safari Goal

Decide whether your priority is the Great Migration, big cats, family comfort, photography, honeymoon privacy, or a first-time overview of northern Tanzania. This helps determine whether you should focus on Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, or a wider circuit.

How Many Days To Plan

A short safari of 3 to 4 days can work for Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara. For Serengeti, 5 to 7 days gives a better rhythm. If you want the northern Serengeti, private conservancy-style pacing, or a safari and Zanzibar combination, 8 to 12 days is usually more comfortable.

Private Safari Or Shared Safari

Private safaris give you control over timing, stops, accommodation, and photography pace. Shared safaris can reduce cost, but they are less flexible. Wild World Serengeti Safaris mainly recommends private planning when guests want a smoother, more personal experience.

Choosing Accommodation

Budget camps, mid-range lodges, tented camps, and luxury lodges can all create excellent safaris when chosen correctly. The key is matching location with season. A beautiful lodge far from the wildlife area can cost you valuable game-viewing time.

A strong safari plan should confirm

  • Parks and route order
  • Travel dates and expected wildlife patterns
  • Accommodation level and location
  • Vehicle type and guide arrangement
  • Airport arrival and departure logistics
  • Park fees, meals, transfers, and included services
